Subspace for Doms .

Updated: Apr 3

What is subspace?

Subspace is the word given to the pleasurable altered headspace that the submissive partner experiences during a BDSM scene.

Subspace explained from a Dom's perspective....

Firstly this is MY understanding of subspace and MY experience of it.

I'm an experienced Dom and for me subspace is the ultimate goal of any scene . The sight of Kaylie in this altered stage arouses and gives me my own personal euphoria.

During a scene there's a release of hormones such as endorphins, oxytocin, and adrenaline that can cause changes in brain chemistry that contribute to the feeling of subspace.

Endorphins

Which are natural painkillers can be released in response to the physical sensations experienced during scene activities such as spanking, flogging or bondage.

Oxytocin

Which is sometimes referred to as the "cuddle hormone" can be released in response to touch, intimacy and emotional bonding.

Adrenaline

Which is sometimes referred to as the "fight or flight" hormone can be released in response to stress or excitement.

The release of these hormones can create a feeling of euphoria and altered consciousness, which are often described as the feeling of subspace.

The changes in brain chemistry can also contribute to feelings of relaxation, trust and emotional connection with one's partner.

Entering subspace is a unique experience for each submissive and there is no set formula or stages to follow. However some submissives may experience similar sensations and emotional states as they enter subspace.

Here are some general stages that some submissives may go through:

Anticipation

Before the scene begins the submissive may experience a sense of anticipation and excitement about what's to come. This anticipation can help create an atmosphere of arousal and submission.

Focus on the present moment

As the scene begins the submissive may start to focus on the sensations and experiences in the present moment rather than their everyday worries or concerns. This can involve focusing on their breathing, the sensations of being touched or the sound of their dominant's voice.

Physical sensations

As the scene progresses the submissive may begin to experience intense physical sensations such as pain, pleasure or a combination of both. These sensations can be heightened by the use of sensory toys such as blindfolds or floggers.

Emotional surrender

As the physical sensations intensify the submissive may start to experience a sense of emotional surrender and submission to their dominant. This can involve a deep sense of trust and vulnerability.

Altered consciousness:

As the submissive's physical and emotional experiences intensify they may start to enter an altered state of consciousness known as subspace. This can involve a feeling of detachment from the outside world, a sense of time distortion and a heightened sense of euphoria.

Recovery - Aftercare

Once the scene is over the submissive may need time to recover and return to their normal state of consciousness. This is aftercare and can involve providing emotional support such as reassurance and comfort as well as physical care, such as water, food and rest.

It's important to note that not all submissives will experience these stages in the same way and some may not enter subspace at all.

I hope my personal insight as a Dom is useful to some of you and again this is only my description. It's also hard to convey emotional states but I've tried my best .
